A First Look at This Fall’s Most-Anticipated Collaboration

Which is exactly what it did. Earlier this summer, news broke that Lemairewww.luxurystrap.com
would join Uniqlo full-time as artistic director of Uniqlo U, a line of fashion-centric sportswear. Now we have our first look at the coming fall/winter Uniqlo U collection, and judging by the photos, the designer isn’t holding back on his unstructured, pared-back, minimalist vibe.

With two seasons of successful collaboration between French designer Christophe Lemaire and Uniqlo already on the books, it wouldn’t exactly be a bad move for the company—which was forced to close five stores recently—to seek his services on a more permanent basis.

“The Uniqlo U line is built from a very Uniqlo point of view,” Lemaire recently told Vogue.com. “It is rooted in the very DNA of Uniqlo, elevated basics, an ideal version of Uniqlo.” Based on this preview, those elevated basics will include sweaters, hoodies, coats, trousers, and more—all in muted colors like beige, gray, and black, with the occasional maroon thrown in for good measure.

Just as with the previous two collaborations, it’ll be a great way to get your hands on some much-coveted Lemaire designs, only at a tenth of the main line’s price. Look for the collection in Uniqlo stores and online beginning this October.
